Spending quality time together is an important part of a relationship. And what better day to take time out with your partner than Valentine’s Day? This sensual massage oil recipe is the perfect way to enjoy an evening reconnecting on both a physical and emotional level.
There are a number of carrier oils you can choose as the base oil for your massage oil. Both jojoba oil and fractionated coconut oil have a very stable shelf life. Neither feel heavy on skin and both are drier oils. You’ll want to choose one of these oils as a base for your massage oil recipe if you prefer oils that sink into skin and don’t feel greasy.
Similarly, macadamia oil is also great for massage. It’s contains a high amount of fatty acids and is non-greasy as well. However, it is particularly sensitive to light and does degrade accordingly.
Sweet almond oil is another suitable carrier oil that would work well for this massage oil recipe. Like jojoba, coconut and macadamia nut oils, sweet almond oil is also rich in fatty acids as well as vitamins A and E.
Alternately, common and more traditional carrier oils like olive oil and sunflower oil would work as well. Both of these oils are easily and readily sourced locally if you’re doing last minute shopping. However, be aware that the shelf life of these oils is also diminished by extreme heat and light. This is a simple aphrodisiac massage oil recipe that’s perfect for a little Valentine’s Day romance. It includes 3 essential oils: sandalwood, ginger and sweet orange essential oils, as well as some vanilla extract (homemade vanilla extract is best). SENSUAL MASSAGE OIL RECIPE
4 oz. carrier oil, of choice (see notes above)
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 drops sandalwood essential oil
8 drops sweet orange essential oil
4 drops ginger essential oil
Use a small funnel to fill a 4 oz. bottle of your choice with 4 fluid ounces of the carrier oil you’ve chosen.
Next use a dropper or a graduated transfer pipette to add each of the essential oils and the vanilla extract.
Screw the lid onto your bottle – I used a spray bottle for easier application – and gently shake the massage oil to mix the essential oils with the carrier oil.
To use your homemade massage oil, simply apply desired amount to skin and massage in as desired. Reapply as needed.
