If you love the concept of Poo Pourri but not the high price tag, than try this DIY poo pourri spray copycat instead! A natural alternative to commercial air fresheners, this deodorizing spray doesn’t just save you money, it also traps those stinky smells. So when you flush, the odor goes with it!
Why we like having a DIY Poo Pourri Spray in the bathroom…
It’s not just men who can create a stink when they go to the toilet. Women definitely create their fair share of odor as well. Because let’s face it. Poop, well, it just smells.
People’s poop is made up of a combination of undigested food, mucous, bacteria and dead cells. So in general, it simply smells bad. However if your poop is particularly foul, it could signal that there’s a health concern. So always consult a physician if your poop seems particularly unpleasant.
To tackle your everyday variety of poop smells, you could turn to a commercial air freshener. However, commercial air fresheners often contain synthetic ingredients that do nothing more than cover up the scent. Gross, right? They can also trigger allergies.
I personally go into a sneezing fit over any air fresheners or candles that contain a fake vanilla fragrance. For these reasons, I recommend making your own natural poo deodorizing bathroom spray.
Details about this Homemade Poo Pourri Spray
Similar to Poo Pourri Before You Go Toilet Spray, this DIY poo deodorizing bathroom spray works best if you spray it into your toilet before you do the actual deed.
Like Poo Pourri, my homemade version of this deodorizing bathroom product forms an oil barrier on top of your toilet water. By spraying this natural poo deodorizing bathroom spray into the toilet before using the bathroom, that barrier is able to trap the odor from your poop. So once you go, your stool – along with the smell – are flushed down the toilet together.
My DIY Poo Pourri bathroom spray is also more cost effective version of the popular Poo Pourri spray. Where Poo Pourri costs $5 an ounce, you can make your own for just pennies an ounce.
It also works just as well without the high price tag. Plus, there’s a bonus of being able to use your own favorite essential oil scent blends. So if you already have an essential oil collection, you can simply use ingredients that you already have on hand. Learn more about my favorite essential oils here.
Below, you’ll find a simple recipe for making your own DIY poo deodorizing bathroom spray. I recommend making several – one for each bathroom – plus extras to give as gifts.
