Equipment

Materials

  • 1-2 cups lemon peel (about 4 lemons)
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Peel lemons carefully and place in a mason jar. Use a plastic lid, as vinegar can corrode metal lids.
  • Add vinegar so that peels are completely covered. Use a spoon to push peels down into the jar if needed.
  • Cover with lid and let sit for a minimum of two weeks.
  • Strain the lemon vinegar through a mesh sieve or cheesecloth and discard peels (run them through your garbage disposal to deodorize it!).
  • Add the vinegar to a 16 ounce spray bottle. Fill the rest with pure water and shake gently.
  • Use as you would an all-purpose cleaner.

Notes

  • You can use peels from lemons, oranges, limes, or grapefruit - or use a combination!
  • Double or triple the recipe and store the lemon vinegar in a cool, dark place so you can make more cleaner whenever you need to.
  • Don't use this cleaner on any surface that reacts poorly to acidic cleaners, such as granite.
