This Exfoliating Facial Cleanser recipe is the perfect way to naturally nourish your skin. Made with real strawberry and orange fruit extracts, this foaming facial cleanser gently exfoliates and brightens skin.
The alpha hydroxy acid present in the fruit extracts combined with sugar work together to exfoliate skin. As the top most layer of skin is removed, it encourages new skin growth, works to smooth and even skin tone, and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles over time.
Winter brings out the worst in my skin. Much like my hands, winter really takes a toll on my facial skin. It doesn’t take much for it to look dry and dull.
I used Everyone™ Meyer Lemon & Mandarin Hand Soap as the base for my exfoliating facial cleanser recipe as it’s less likely to strip skin of its natural oils than liquid Castile soap. Like Castile soap however, it is free of sodium laureth sulfate, synthetic fragrances and dyes. Formulated from gentle plant derived cleansers, this hand soap also contains an essential oil blend of lemon and orange.
Because skin tends to be drier in winter, the addition of rosehip seed oil to this exfoliating facial cleanser recipe offers additional moisture. Orange essential oil is added as well, because it has good benefits for your skin.

DIRECTIONS:
STEP #1:
Using a digital scale weigh out the rosehip seed oil and emulsifying wax. Heat together in a double boiler until the emulsifying wax melts. Remove from heat.
STEP #2:
Weigh out the liquid soap then combine in a medium glass bowl with the melted wax and rosehip seed oil.
STEP #3:
Add the drops of orange essential oil. Stir into the liquid ingredients along with several drop of vitamin E oil.
STEP #4:
In a separate bowl, weigh out the sugar. Then measure out and add the strawberry and orange powder fruit extracts. Mix well with a fork until the dry ingredients are evenly combined throughout.
STEP #5:
Now add the sugar and fruit mixture to the liquid ingredients and mix well. Once thoroughly combined, spoon your exfoliating facial cleanser evenly into three 2 oz. glass jars or one 6 oz. glass jar.
Allow the cleanser to finish cooling, then screw on the lids to the jars.
To use your exfoliating facial cleanser, massage desired amount onto damp skin in a circular motion avoiding the eye area. Then rinse off and pat dry.

This sounds like a beautiful recipe. What is the shelf life? Will it be effected by heat/sun?
This recipe should keep for 6 months as long as it’s kept with a lid on it. Citrus essential oils like orange don’t keep as long as regular essential oils, but even those are good for about 6 months out of refrigeration.
