This homemade Chocolate Mint Foaming Salt Scrub recipe is the perfect recipe for any skin type and it does not leave your skin feeling greasy.
Scented in a to-die-for blend of chocolate and mint, this chocolate mint foaming salt scrub effectively balances your love of scrubs with a formula that actually works for your skin type, and it also doesn’t leave behind the hassle of a slippery, oily tub.

A common complaint about traditional salt scrubs is that they leave your skin feeling greasy. And, since oil and water don’t mix, it’s often difficult to sufficiently wash off the oils used to make a traditional salt scrub.
While traditional salt scrubs exfoliate and moisturize skin very well, acne prone or oily skin often don’t respond positively to a basic mixture of just oil and salt. Not to mention that over-exfoliating can actually exacerbate issues with skin problems.
My chocolate mint foaming salt scrub is made with a natural shea butter soap base, which helps the scrub rinse off the skin more easily. This foaming salt scrub recipe also contains cocoa butter and shea nut oil to both condition and nourish the skin.
The addition of Dead Sea salt then provides gentle exfoliation and also promotes healthy, balanced skin for reduced breakouts.

CHOCOLATE MINT FOAMING SALT SCRUB RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
6 oz. fine ground Dead Sea salt
5 oz. Stephenson Natural Shea Butter Melt & Pour Soap Base
1.5 oz. shea nut oil
.75 oz. unsweetened cocoa powder
.5 oz. unrefined cocoa butter
30-40 drops of peppermint essential oil
10-15 drops of orange essential oil, optional
DIRECTIONS:
STEP #1:
Using a digital scale, weigh out the unrefined cocoa butter and soap base. Cut the soap base into chunks, then combine in a double boiler with the cocoa butter.
STEP #2:
Gently heat the cocoa butter and soap base until melted, then remove from heat.
STEP #3:
Next, weigh out the shea nut oil and add with the essential oils and stir into the melted cocoa butter and soap base. Set aside.
STEP #4:
In a separate container, weigh out and combine the Dead Sea salt and cocoa butter. Mix well with a fork until the ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
STEP #5:
Now pour the salt mixture into the liquid ingredients. Mix with a fork until well combined and the foaming salt scrub starts to thicken. Then spoon your salt scrub into a container (or containers) of your choice.
STEP #6:
Label your finished chocolate mint foaming salt scrub jars as desired for personal use or to give as homemade gifts.
To use, simply massage the salt scrub onto wet skin in the shower or bath to gently exfoliate and nourish skin. Then rinse off and pat dry.
